99% of you aren’t going to want to sit through this video but I wanted to share just how vocal Jake has become over the past month. He talks, talks, and talks all the time. You can’t always understand it but he sure thinks it’s important!

If you notice, he’s becoming a little bossy (telling the animals to “sit”). Everytime it’s time to eat a meal he tells me “SIT MAMA!” and then goes to find Seth to drag him to the table saying, “SIT DADA!”. He’s also put a couple other “phrases” together like “Yea Jake!” and “Juice please”.

Also, for the record…I know that chickens don’t say “chirp chirp”. It’s just hard when you’re put on the spot! Seth was quick to point out that mistake :)

38 Weeks…and it’s Hot Outside!

Well hello there, little guy!

Here is Drew at 38 weeks. His hands were in front of his face most of the time so this was the best mug shot we got. If you remember last time with Jake, the picture we got showed an 8 foot long nose (below). This one looks a bit more proportional!

Our ultrasound today showed that he was head down which was a huuuuuge blessing! I have been worried the past few weeks that he wasn’t but we discovered the large round thing in my ribs is indeed his little behind. Phew.

They estimated his weight to be 6 lbs 6 oz (I think that’s being a bit generous) and just like his older brother, his head is measuring a little on the large side (a week ahead) and his waist is measuring around 35 weeks. Gotta love my skinny-waisted boys! They also could tell by the placenta that his lungs still aren’t quite done developing yet. So we need him to cook for just a little bit longer to make sure everything is a-ok!

Here is Jake at the same point in my pregnancy. See any resemblance?

Jake with the large honker :)

It’s funny how things kinda happen and look the same this time around. We were just in the dining room taking my belly picture and the dogs would not leave me alone (I think they know something is up). I remembered a picture from my last pregnancy and had to take a similar one…

Don’t worry Tucker and Maggie…you’ll always be our first children!

And from 2009…

They don’t like to admit it, but they love me

I’m 38 Weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 38 Weeks

Size of Baby: Approx 6 1/3 lbs and 19.5 inches long

Total Weight Gain: 20 lbs (1 more pound and it will be a tie from last time)

Maternity Clothes: Yep…and getting sick of them.

Gender: BOY. Andrew James Anderle

Movement: Slowing down a bit. Poor kid is running out of room.

Sleep: Fine for the most part but I wake up every night around 2am and 6am to use the restroom. Like clockwork. Basically about when a new baby would need to be fed also. Funny how that happens…

What I Miss: Being my normal self!

Cravings: My stomach is running out of room and that makes me sad…

Symptoms: Tired, impatient, sore, heartburn, occasional contractions, and did I mention tired?

Best Moment this Week: Seeing our sweet little boy on the ultrasound today, of course! Also finding out that he’s head down and easing my anxiety about that.

Signs of Labor: I am 1cm dilated and 30% effaced. I had contractions for a few hours this past weekend and thought it might be time but alas, here we still are. Trying to work on my patience. My neighbors are starting to place bets on my delivery date. Feel free to share any predictions in the comments! :)

Big Boy “Bee-ball” Room

I have been pestered to take pictures of Jake’s new “big boy” room so here they are! We moved him in there the week before Easter (so I guess it’s been a little more than a month?) and he has done great! Now granted, he’s still in a crib but after much debate we realized he just wasn’t ready for a normal bed like we had planned. Mostly because he thinks beds are bounce houses.

Not a battle I’d like to fight in the middle of the night while I’m also feeding his baby brother. :)

If you come over, Jake would love to show you his new baseball (bee-ball) room. He is so proud of it!

It was hard to get a picture of the entire room so here is part of it…

Disregard random box on floor

Also disregard random basket on floor :) Sorry, it’s just how I roll.

I’m so glad I have a husband who is willing (well, he also has no choice!!) to paint for me. He did a great job with these stripes!

Blackberry Goodness

This past weekend our neighbors gave us a big ol’ bag of fresh picked blackberries – YUM! I think they are one of our favorite fruits. Blackberries and dewberries are so good fresh, frozen, in baked goods, jam, desserts, etc.

I got up a little earlier this morning to make blackberry muffins and they did not disappoint! So in case you’re feeling a bit domestic, here’s the recipe (courtesy of Taste of Home). I might just have to have another as a snack this afternoon…

1/2 cup butter, softened
1-1/4 cups plus 1 tablespoon sugar, divided
2 eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup whole milk
2 cups fresh or frozen blackberries (I would maybe cut these in half next time)

In a large bowl, cream butter and 1-1/4 cups sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; gradually stir into creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition. Fold in blackberries.

Fill greased or paper-lined muffins cups two-thirds full. Sprinkle with remaining sugar. Bake at 375° for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks. Serve warm.

Yield: 1-1/2 dozen.

Good Things Happen in 3′s

They always say that good things happen in 3′s. I’m not sure who “they” is, but I suppose they knew what they were talking about!

We are so lucky to have some of our best friends living right around the corner. We are each others go-to babysitters, grocery shoppers, errand runners, and food picker-uppers. In fact, our husbands always think we have some sort of ponzi scheme going on because someone always owes someone else money. But I mean, really. If you’re already going to Sams, why not pick up Jimmy Dean sausage biscuits and chicken breasts for the next person as well! :)

Ironically enough, we all ended up pregnant at the same time. Even more ironically, we were all pregnant together two years ago as well. Hey, we just needed to make sure our kids had friends…

Me (37.5 weeks), Kim (10 weeks), Georgia (36.5 weeks)

I also found the picture we took 2 years ago, almost to the day! How weird is that…

Kim (35 wks…she delivered her boys one week later!), Georgia (24ish weeks), Me (21ish weeks)

Over the past 4.5 years, we’ve grown (literally) from no kids to EIGHT (well, 3 in the womb). Funny how life can change so quickly. Even better, many of our other good friends are expecting as well right now and Mallory, Jessie, and Sheila won’t be far behind with their new babies! Talk about a crazy playgroup!

We Can’t Afford to Be Wrong

I felt like I needed to shout a big “amen” after watching this…

I can’t stop thinking about his point of us misrepresenting God. Because I think this happens daily. As Francis says, we justify actions or events by saying, “Well God would never do __________.” Or “God wouldn’t really send ________ people to hell…”

Or would He?

By putting God’s actions in submission to our reasoning, we humanize Him in a way that isn’t necessarily ok. We put Him in a box that we’re comfortable with and move on.

But like he said, “We CAN’T afford to be wrong…..”

Can’t wait for his new book to come out!

37 Weeks

Drew is full-term – hooray!
(Left- Jake, Right – Drew)

I’m 37 Weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 37 Weeks

Size of Baby: Approx 6 1/3 lbs and 19 inches long

Total Weight Gain: 20 lbs

Maternity Clothes: Yep. And I can’t wait to start wearing my old clothes again!

Cravings: Food doesn’t sound quite as good these days. Probably because my stomach doesn’t have much room to expand so it just turns into a disappointing experience.

Symptoms: Tired, impatient, sore, heartburn. May or may not have to do with pregnancy – ha!

Best Moment this Week: I don’t know if this can be considered a special “moment” but our hospital bags are packed, both boys rooms are finished, everything is in order for the most part. Heck, Jake’s baby book is even almost done. And don’t worry, I will be taking the footprint page in Drew’s book to the hospital with us. I know you were all so worried.

Aggie Graduation

This past weekend, while Seth was at a bachelor party, Jake and I headed to College Station to celebrate Aunt Rachel and Uncle Michael’s college graduation. Whoop! We are so proud of them (mainly because they picked a great college to attend – kidding) and are looking forward to their wedding in 2 weeks!!

If you haven’t taken your 19 month old to an Aggie graduation yet, I highly recommend it. They will most likely sit still, politely clap for the graduates, and never ever try and run up and down the stairs at Reed Arena…

Jake and I with a future educator of America! Note: this was somewhere between his 1st and 2nd wind so kiddo was a little grumpy.

Michael graduated on Friday night with a degree in Biomedical Engineering (obviously I was his go-to person whenever he had questions. BME is sooo easy!).

Afterward we went back to the house to enjoy some Dickey’s BBQ before we headed home!

Jake loooooves both of his grandpas. He was hanging all over my dad (Grandpa…but deemed Bup Bup last weekend!) and thought it was so funny to hug and kiss him.

Melts my heart!

He was also so excited to see Nana. He got some cool new books and plates and has already stolen one of his brother’s toys. Nana gave Drew a teething toy that apparently resembled Nemo a little too much…so it is Jake’s for now :)

Me and my beautiful sisters! I was so glad everyone could be there and that we get to see them all in 2 more weeks too (unless I am pushing out a baby which preferably will happen just before or just after this ceremony!)

The future bride and groom

Riding around on Uncle Kyle’s shoulders. I’m glad we captured a smile becaue I promise he really does smile and laugh a lot! He kept saying ‘more more’ when Kyle tried to put him down.

And let me just say real quick…someone must have read my last post and prayed because Jake was so well behaved (for the most part) yesterday, has taken a nap 4 days in a row, and slept until 7:45 this morning! (He had been getting up at 6 or earlier the past week). I have had several people tell me their kids went haywire right before the baby was born so I hope that is partly an explanation for what has been going on…

Mine, NO, and Time Out

Well, if the title of this post is any hint, you might guess that we’ve started having some authority problems over here.

Remember sweet little Jake?

I told Seth, through teary eyes the other day, that I reeeealllly thought Jake was going to be different. I know, such an amateur. But perhaps I thought God truly smiled down on us and decided to grant us the perfect child. The one that would never talk back, hit, bite, throw tantrums, or scream in our faces.

Then I recalled this verse…

Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.

Psalm 51:5

…and remembered that nobody is safe from the terrible twos :)

The timing of this particular behavior is not really ideal seeing as I am DONE being pregnant, but there are lots of prayers, singing about positive attitudes, and high-fives (Bible study girls, you know what I’m talking about!!) going on over here.

The good thing is, Jake will now (almost) willingly walk to time out and stay there until he’s told. The bad thing is, he walks out laughing half the time. And sometimes I can’t help but laugh too! I’ve also decided we have to go back to sleep training. I think we got a little too relaxed with bedtime, naptime, etc after the time change and we’ve got to get back to a strict bedtime and nap start/end time regardless of crying. Because come 3 weeks from now, I cannot listen to two screaming children at once!!!!

You know, it’s all wishful thinking at least.

I love my little boy more than words can possibly express. He can be the sweetest thing in the whole world and can sometimes be the exact opposite. But I know we are so blessed to have him in our lives and I can’t possibly fathom how we have enough love for another.

But I think our hearts are about to double in size!

Something Fishy…

This morning I received an endearing email from my beloved husband…

Is it still ok if we go fish at the neighborhood lake this evening? If so, could you cut up about half of a hot dog into cylinders that are about 1/2″ in length and put them in that old pickle jar with some garlic salt and then sit it outside in the sun?”

I have spent the day looking through my job description and can’t seem to find the part that says “bait-maker”…
