Hawaii Happenings – Part Dos

I take it back. THIS just might be the longest post ever. Prepare to be pictured out. And if you want any of these to blow up and frame in your house, feel free to ask. Don’t be embarassed. It’s happened before.

And I apologize if my thoughts don’t flow well in this. I am currently catching up on the TV I missed last week. And I admit, I cheated and found out who the Bachelor picked. (Or who the “champion” was, as my dear husband put it) I still need to watch to catch all the drama though. And I cringe to take this back…I scoffed when my mother declared Shayne would be the winner at the beginning. And I hate to say it, but she was right. Even though I don’t think Matt picked the right girl……….ahem…NOELLE.

Back to Hawaii. On to Maui.

We went to the Old Lahaina Luau on our first evening there. It was so much fun and really neat to see a real luau firsthand. Made Paula and I realize we weren’t as good at hula dancing as we’d once hoped.

Me and Seth watching the sunset at the luau

Yuck. The roasted pig.
We finally got our leis! They smelled so good. They should sell them in Houston.
Ben & Paula enjoying the luau

Don’t worry, ladies. I kept him away from the hula dancers.

Look at Seth! A surfing pro! He took a surfing lesson while I soaked in the sunUm yeah. That longboard was HUGE!

Ahh. The beach.

Things got a little out of hand in front of the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. We saw a fantastic photo op and couldn’t resist. And I will post all 4 of our pictures just because I think it’s funny. So sorry to be redundant :)

Run Seth Run!
I didn’t pull it off quite as well. But look, there is the box of chocolates.
Silly Ben

And then the boys got ahold of the camera for some photo fun…

World-class Hawaiian beach babes (and dudes)

The morning of our bike ride down the Haleakala crater. We were picked up from our hotel at 2:15 AM and made it to the top of the crater around 4:45 AM to prepare for the sunrise. Although it was gorgeous, it was FREEZING. 34 degrees. 50 mph winds. No joke, kids. Thank goodness we listened to advice and brought our winter wear. Then the tour company even provided us with these snazzy jumpsuits to help protect us from the wind. Perhaps next time we’ll just see the sunset…

As Paula said, I looked like a marshmellow

We were at 10,000 feet…even above the clouds!

Photo op!! Don’t ya think I should be a stunt woman?

The only time I’ll ever get Seth on a bike

Do we resemble each other?

Our last day in Maui! We were crying behind our sunglasses.
Dinner at Longhi’s

And there you have it. A wonderful super fun week that we were so blessed to be able to enjoy!!! In the meantime, we will be continuing to cross things off on the “Anderle to-do’s pre-children” list. Next up…puppy!

  1. Wow, your pictures make me really want to go on a beach vaca. I got a kiddy plastic pool from Walmart this weekend – it has definately lost its coolness! Yahoo for being able to travel freely (my friends with kids always complain about that :) and make fun memories!

  2. It looks like y’all had so much fun! I’m glad you’re back though because I did miss your blogs! You’re so tan…and I’m jealous. I don’t think I’ll be getting much sun this summer. Glad you’re back! Tell Seth and Maggie hello!

  3. Ok, I was in withdrawel for a week without your blog to make me laugh! What a great trip….I am super jealous…and such beautiful postcard pictures. I miss you and would love to see you soon!

  4. Still working on a puppy huh? My friends here got a black german shepard puppy yesterday, it’s soooo cute! Almost makes me want another puppy, ALMOST!

  5. i’m trying, i’m trying. i gave seth the choice between a baby, new car, or furniture. he chose a puppy (claiming it was the cheapest…). still, that’s progress, right?
